DKNZ Studio is an Auckland-based furniture restoration studio that breathes new life into well-made pieces, giving them a fresh chapter within the story of your home.

We specialise in reviving authentic mid-century and Art Deco furniture, blending classic aesthetics with modern functionality while retaining the essence of each piece.

We appreciate the sophistication and craftsmanship that went into the creation of many of these original forms, and we seek to retain and restore that approach while enhancing the beauty and value of each piece.
Every piece we work on has a story - sometimes obvious, sometimes hidden under layers of wear. Our role is to reveal what's still strong, repair what's tired and re-imagine what's possible.

We respect the materials, structure, history of each piece before deciding how far to intervene. Not everything needs to be made perfect; often, character is the point.
Who We Are

DKNZ is David and Kirstin. We are passionate about restoring, recycling and reimagining furniture that is no longer wanted. We bring our combined Kiwi and English design sensibilities to everything we do.

Kirstin is endlessly creative and loves bringing colour and style to each piece, ensuring it reflects both current trends, and individual style. Her professional work with children brings a deep sense of playfulness - and patience - to the creative process.
David is an engineer by training, making sure every piece is structurally sound and fully functional before creative flair is applied.

Together, we love hunting for interesting pieces to restore, re-purpose, and re-love. Mid-century and Art Deco furniture particularly inspires us, but we're always open to pieces with the right bones and potential.
